Introduction to Colours Package.

'Colours' can be used in many ways and to reinforce a number of concepts. Each song looks at one colour and how it may impact or interact with us in everyday life. The songs allow for focus on both distant (skies and fields) and the personal (own body). For example, the green song looks at nature all around us, and the red song is about blood in our bodies. There is an audio link at the bottom of the page to sample a section of the yellow song. Yellow is the colour of warning. There are 8 different songs, white, red, yellow, orange, green, blue, purple and black.

The DVD lasts for 30 minutes and runs continuously, though the DVD is sectioned into tracks so that you can select one part of the programme if you wish. The songs are linked by 30 seconds of music to give you time to change props or position.

60 photos accompany the music and reflect the theme of each song and give a visual focus to the songs. People who have a visual impairment will engage through music, actions and objects. The photos change every 30 seconds to give time for the participants to look at the photograph.

In the fully photocopiable booklet are a list of suggested props to use and actions to do during the songs. Don't try to use all the suggested stimuli at once - you'll be worn out and it will be a chaotic experience! In addition there are a range of extension activities included to help you expand the themes to other areas.
